Québec City hosted Watermatex 2023, the 11th IWA (International Water Association) Modelling and Integrated Assessment Symposium, which took place from September 24 to 27 of this year.

Our company Modela was part of this important conference, represented by Andrés Donoso, CEO, Founder; and Fernando Zorrilla, Modeling and Simulation Scientist; being the latter who participated in the Soft Sensors session with the presentation Soft Sensor For Substrate Characterization Through The Reverse Application Of The ADM1 Model For Anaerobic Digestion Plant Operations.

Watermatex is an outstanding space for the exchange of methodologies and experiences at an international level, addressing a wide range of aspects related to water challenges in an interdisciplinary context. The symposium contributions are not limited to a single discipline, but extend to issues related to drinking water treatment and distribution, sewerage and wastewater treatment systems, surface and groundwater, as well as technical and natural systems.

Emerging challenges around smart water systems, water reuse, resource recovery, and water-energy interaction present new opportunities for modeling advancement.
